Indonesians take immense pride in their Independence Day and their celebration of this day is no short of extravagant! This year Indonesia celebrates its 73rd year of the Proclamation of Independence. Here are a few traditions that you can join in to celebrate, no matter where you are!

The most patriotic celebration of them all, the highlight of this event is when the Declaration of Independence is read out. A similar ceremony is held at sunset to lower the flag.
